In this global era (a society in which internationalization and information?sharing are growing rapidly), it is increasingly important that education focuses on teaching young students to accept different values, and to cultivate their own skills and qualities to bring forth new knowledge. As society grows and its infrastructure becomes more complex, we face new challenges to overcome, for which new sets of values, skills and abilities are required. In such an environment, an educational system that caters to the uniqueness of each individual is essential, and we believe that educational testing that can measure diverse abilities will play an ever-important role in creating such a system.

Japan still has much to learn regarding educational testing, and launching an institute dedicated to such research was sorely needed. To this end, we will collaborate with other organizations and experts, both inside and outside Japan, in the pursuit of quality research and contributing to the advancement of educational testing on a global scale.
